Lemual Victor Hogue -- Obituary

HOGUE - LEMUEL VICTOR "LEM." Of Welland, at the Welland County General Hospital, on Sunday, July 2, 1995 in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of the late Betty Hogue (1984).

Loving father of James Hogue, of Welland; Shirley and husband John Tutti, of St. Catharines; Jean and husband Simon Vethaak, of Welland; Ruth and husband George Rath, of Ottawa; and Doreen and husband Terry Forbes, of Alberta.

Dear brother of Frank Hogue, of B.C. Sadly missed by 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, Mr. Hogue was predeceased by his parents Michael and Margaret Hogue and six brothers.

Born in Wainfleet, Mr. Hogue has lived in the Welland area all his life. He worked with his father at the Hogue Blacksmith Shop on Fraser Street for a number of years before moving to the maintenance department of Whiting Industries for some 15 years retiring in 1970.

A well known local artist and Welland historian, Mr. Hogue volunteered as an art teacher at Sunset Haven during his retirement. He was a long time and faithful member of First Baptist Church, serving as deacon as well as on many other committees.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 7–9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2–4 and 7–9 p.m. at the CUDNEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 241 West Main Street, Welland. Rev. Glen Barrett of First Baptist Church will conduct the funeral service from the Cudney Chapel on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. Interment Fonthill Cemetery. Memorial donations to the charity of one's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
